Size Guide
Manx Iron Clothing Co.
Find the right fit, first time.
Getting the fit right matters more in motorcycle clothing than in almost anything else you'll wear. The armour needs to sit where it's supposed to. The cut needs to work in your riding posture, not just standing in front of a mirror.
This guide is a starting point. If you're between sizes, or unsure how a particular piece will sit on your build, reply to any of our emails or give us a call. We'd rather take five minutes to get you into the right size first time than process an exchange later.
All measurements are in inches.
Before you start
How to measure.
You'll need a soft tape measure and ideally another person to help. Wear close-fitting clothing, not the gear you'll be measuring for.
-
Chest
Around the fullest part of your chest, under the armpits, with the tape parallel to the ground.
-
Bust (women's)
Around the fullest part of your bust, with the tape parallel to the ground and not too tight.
-
Natural Waist (for tops)
Around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button.
-
Waist (for jeans)
Around where you actually wear your jeans, usually lower than your natural waist, around the hips.
-
Hips
Around the fullest part of your hips and seat, with the tape parallel to the ground.
-
Inseam
From your crotch down the inside of your leg to the floor, in bare feet or socks.
-
Sleeve
From the centre back of your neck, across your shoulder, down to your wrist with your arm slightly bent.
-
Body Length (for t-shirts & hoodies)
From the highest point of the shoulder, straight down to the hem of the garment.

01 · Armoured Hoodie · Men's
The Armoured Hoodie.
The hoodie is cut to allow for layering underneath in colder months, while sitting close enough to keep the armour in position when you ride.
If you plan to wear it over thicker layers in winter, consider sizing up. If you'll mostly ride in milder weather, stick to your true size.
| Size | Chest | Natural Waist | Sleeve |
|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 31 – 33" | 26" | 31.5" |
| XS | 33 – 35" | 28" | 32" |
| S | 35 – 37" | 30" | 32.5" |
| M | 37 – 39" | 32" | 33" |
| L | 39 – 41.5" | 34" | 33.5" |
| XL | 41.5 – 44" | 36" | 34" |
| 2XL | 44 – 46" | 38" | 34.5" |
| 3XL | 46 – 48" | 40" | 35" |
Fit guidance
The hoodie should feel close around the shoulders, chest and back, with the armour pockets sitting flat against your body. You should be able to move freely, reach the bars, and tuck slightly without the fabric bunching.
Between sizes: size down for a closer riding fit, size up if you expect to layer underneath.
02 · Riding Jeans · Men's
The Riding Jeans.
Cut as a straight-leg riding jean with reinforced panels and armour pockets at the knees and hips. The waist sits where you'd expect a standard pair of jeans to sit.
The knee armour has two positions to align with your riding posture, which is higher than your knee when standing.
| Size | Waist | Hip | Inseam (S / R / L) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 28 | 28" | 35" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
| 30 | 30" | 37" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
| 32 | 32" | 39" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
| 34 | 34" | 41" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
| 36 | 36" | 43" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
| 38 | 38" | 45" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
| 40 | 40" | 47" | 30 / 32 / 34" |
Fit guidance
The waist size matches your standard jeans size. If you wear a 32 in regular denim, order a 32 here. The cut sits straight through the leg, neither skinny nor relaxed.
The knee armour should sit just above your kneecap when you're seated in your normal riding position. Adjust the armour between the high and low pockets to line it up.
Between sizes: size up. Riding jeans need to be comfortable in the riding position, which compresses the waist and stretches the legs.
03 · Rider Shirt · Men's
The Rider Shirt.
The lightest layer in the range. AA-rated under EN17092, cut to wear as a shirt anywhere you'd wear a shirt, on or off the bike.
The armour is slim and integrated, designed to sit invisibly under the cut of the fabric.
| Size | Chest | Natural Waist | Sleeve |
|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 31 – 33" | 26" | 31.5" |
| XS | 33 – 35" | 28" | 32" |
| S | 35 – 37" | 30" | 32.5" |
| M | 37 – 39" | 32" | 33" |
| L | 39 – 41.5" | 34" | 33.5" |
| XL | 41.5 – 44" | 36" | 34" |
| 2XL | 44 – 46" | 38" | 34.5" |
| 3XL | 46 – 48" | 40" | 35" |
Fit guidance
The shirt is cut closer than the hoodie, designed to be worn without bulky layers underneath. The armour pockets sit flat against the chest, shoulders and back.
Between sizes: size down if you want a slim-fitting shirt, size up if you want some room to layer a base layer underneath.
04 · T-Shirt · Men's
The T-Shirt.
A heavyweight cotton tee, cut for everyday wear. No armour, no compromise, just a well-made shirt that pairs cleanly with the rest of the range.
The fit sits true to size, neither boxy nor slim, with a body length that works tucked or untucked.
| Size | Chest | Body Length |
|---|---|---|
| XXS | 31 – 33" | 26" |
| XS | 33 – 35" | 27" |
| S | 35 – 37" | 28" |
| M | 37 – 39" | 29" |
| L | 39 – 41.5" | 30" |
| XL | 41.5 – 44" | 31" |
| 2XL | 44 – 46" | 32" |
| 3XL | 46 – 48" | 33" |
Fit guidance
Order your true size for a regular fit that drapes cleanly through the chest and shoulders. The heavyweight cotton holds its shape wash after wash and won't stretch out over time.
Between sizes: size down for a closer fit, size up if you prefer a looser drape or plan to wear it under a jacket.
A note on XL and above: our t-shirts at XL, 2XL and 3XL may sit very slightly closer to the body than the measurements suggest. The difference is small, but worth knowing if you usually wear those sizes with a relaxed drape.
05 · Casual Hoodie · Men's
The Casual Hoodie.
The non-armoured counterpart to the Armoured Hoodie. Same heavyweight construction, same cut and feel, without the armour pockets or protective lining.
Built to be worn off the bike, on its own or layered under a jacket, and to sit comfortably alongside the rest of the range.
| Size | Chest | Body Length | Sleeve |
|---|---|---|---|
| XXS | 31 – 33" | 26" | 31.5" |
| XS | 33 – 35" | 27" | 32" |
| S | 35 – 37" | 28" | 32.5" |
| M | 37 – 39" | 29" | 33" |
| L | 39 – 41.5" | 30" | 33.5" |
| XL | 41.5 – 44" | 31" | 34" |
| 2XL | 44 – 46" | 32" | 34.5" |
| 3XL | 46 – 48" | 33" | 35" |
Fit guidance
Cut with a touch more room than the Armoured Hoodie, since it doesn't need to hold armour in position. Sits true to size with a regular, everyday drape through the body and shoulders.
Between sizes: size up for a relaxed fit, or stick to true size if you want it to sit closer to the body.
A note on XL and above: our casual hoodies at XL, 2XL and 3XL may sit very slightly closer to the body than the measurements suggest. The difference is small, but worth knowing if you usually wear those sizes with a relaxed drape.
The range
Women's sizing.
All women's garments
One consistent fit.
Every piece in the women's range is cut to the same size chart. Bust, waist and hip are the three measurements that matter most. Take them carefully, and use the chart below.
If you're between sizes, our advice is the same as for the men's range: size up if you want room to layer, size down if you want it to sit closer to the body.
| Size | UK | Bust | Waist | Hip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 8 | 31 – 33" | 24 – 26" | 34 – 36" |
| S | 10 | 33 – 35" | 26 – 28" | 36 – 38" |
| M | 12 | 35 – 37" | 28 – 30" | 38 – 40" |
| L | 14 | 37 – 39" | 30 – 32" | 40 – 42" |
| XL | 16 | 39 – 41" | 32 – 34" | 42 – 44" |
Fit guidance
Take the chest reading at your fullest bust point, with the tape parallel to the ground and not too tight. Take the waist at your natural waist, just above the belly button. Take the hip at the fullest point of your hips and seat.
Between sizes: our cuts run true. If your measurements fall between two sizes, size up for comfort and layering, size down for a closer fit.
Still unsure?
We'd rather talk it through.
If you're between sizes, or you're not sure how the cut will sit on your build, we'd rather have a five-minute conversation than process an exchange. Reply to any of our emails, or get in touch.
